Weekend Planner: Book Buys, Holiday Shopping

Pick up some bargain books at the Horsham Township Library's book sale this weekend, or scope out holiday gifts at area bazaars.

With this season's first snow this week and temperatures starting to dip, it's a great time to incorporate the great indoors into your weekend plans. Here are some options to get you out of the house, but to keep you out of the elements:

BOOK SALE    

Where/when: Horsham Township Library, 435 Babylon Road, Horsham, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: Buy bargains in books and CDs, while fundraising for the library’s summer reading program, workshops and more.

Cost: Depends on how much you buy. Books range from 50 cents to $1.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR AND SILENT AUCTION

Where/when: Supplee Memorial Presbyterian Church, 855 Welsh Road, Maple Glen, Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why go: Get a jumpstart on your holiday shopping, enjoy events for the kids and a visit from Santa.

Cost: Free 

INDOOR PLAY FOR DOGS

Where/when: Best Paw Forward, 328 Maple Ave., second floor, Horsham, Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Why go: It’s getting too cold to take Fido to the Dog Park.

Cost: $5

HOLIDAY CRAFT AND GIFT SHOWCASE

Where/when: 301 Clubhouse Lane, Warminster, Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: Try for a chance to win raffle baskets, and check out clothing, glass sculptures, jewelry and more from 30 vendors.

Cost: Free
