U.S. Marines Perform for Willow Grove 300

The U.S. Marines Drum and Bugle Corps and Silent Drill Team roused patriotism and wiled cheers from more than 2,400 spectators.

The U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and Silent Drill Team paid a visit to Upper Moreland High School's stadium this week, as part of the .

More than 2,400 spectators filled the stands, cheering wildly for the spectacular feats of precision and lively music.

The Upper Moreland High School Jazz band, led by Bob Barron, opened the evening's event. Several speakers and notable guests, including retired Major General Ronald Nelson of the U.S. Marine Corps and state senator Stewart Greenleaf (R-12), followed.

The event itself was dedicated to the memory of Joseph Hagy, who served as a captain in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He also served as an Upper Moreland Township commissioner, school board member and founder of the Willow Grove Community Development Corporation.

The president of Liberty USO, Joe Brooks, also spoke, adressing the service of the U.S. military.

"Look around you, look at the veterans, look at the men and women in uniform, they're the folks you thank," Brooks said.
