Teen Cooking Camp Wraps Up

The 'Teen Battle Chef' summer program ended Friday with a demonstration by the young cooks.

Teens from around the region descended on in Horsham for the Teen Battle Chef program. The program teaches teens about basic culinary techniques and how to eat healthy.

"The program helps them be more confident when prepping meals with their families," said Raina Ainslie, of the , who ran the week-long program.

Students over the course of the past week learned to make breakfast and dinner with recipes that used some ingredients grown at the Pennypack Farm and Education Center, Ainslie said.

The program ended Friday afternoon with a cooking demonstration.

Two teams of teens picked the recipes they wanted to make and prepared them for family and friends. One team made crepes and the other made pancakes.

Hannah Collins, of Abington, said, the program was plenty of fun and has helped make her a better cook.

"This week I improved my cutting skills, which will help when I help cook at home," said Bennent Tilton, who traveled from Pottstown to attend the program.

His mother, Tammy said, "we heard about the program through a friend and think it's absolutely great."
