Tanner Park Fundraising Continues

Landscapers installed a new batch of personalized walkway pavers and more are available for purchase.

The Memorial Walkway leading from Springdale Avenue into parking lot got more of a personal touch recently.

Last week, a crew from in Horsham installed more custom engraved pavers in the 1,800-brick walkway. Of those, about 180 have been personalized, Hatboro's Elm Street President, John Farnen said.

With help from the Kiwanis Club of Hatboro-Horsham, Farnen has raised $21,000 toward the roughly $80,000 needed for playground equipment. Farnen expects to find out tonight at the Hatboro Borough Authority meeting if the entity intends to transfer the remaining $60,000 needed. Hatboro Borough Authority Chairman Rich Seeds said while the issue will be discussed during tonight's meeting, it is not an agenda item "for definitive action or final vote."

Barring funding from the authority, the Tanner Park upgrades are on Hatboro's capital projects list, which spans 2016. The council said Monday during a workshop meeting that they did not know how many of the projects, including a $2.2 million new police station, would be funded, or when they would be carried out.
