Nagel Family Hit with Another Tragedy

Members of the Horsham community are fundraising to help the family of 2010 Hatboro-Horsham graduate Robert Nagel rebuild their home following recent floods, which rendered them home and car-less.

Barely a month after the of her 19-year-old son, , Patricia Nagel was hit with another blow.

Like many in the region, her Horsham home flooded. Her furniture, appliances - even a car - have been destroyed from the most recent downpour, which late last week. 

Friends of Mrs. Nagel - who is wheelchair-bound because of her Multiple Sclerosis affliction - tell Patch that the home's drywall is crumbling, the underground oil tank has spilled and the roof on the second floor is leaking into the house. The residence, off of McKean Road, backs up to a creek and has flooded a handful of times before.

An anonymous donor has put Mrs. Nagel and her 17-year-old son Connor up in the until the community can either help in salvaging her home, or assisting the family in finding somewhere else to live.

The Horsham community has established a fund to assist with the family's living expenses. It is through the Horsham Neighbors Association. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 621 Horsham, PA 19044. Be sure to note in the memo: NAGEL FAMILY.

In addition to, or in lieu of contributions, a meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at in Horsham to help find people that might be able to assist in remodeling Mrs. Nagel's home.
