Hurricane Sandy: Road Closings

Stay up-to-date on road closings throughout Hatboro and Horsham.

Hurricane Sandy is expected to impact the Hatboro and Horsham area from Monday through at least Tuesday.

Hatboro-Horsham Patch will keep you updated on road closings. Check back often.

In Horsham, the following road is closed as of 10:30 a.m. Monday

  • Upland Avenue between Edgely Avenue and Blair Mill Road was closed Monday morning due to down wires.

In Hatboro, the following road is closed as of Thursday morning:

  • Windover Road

Be sure to watch for debris, downed trees and limbs and utility lines, which could be live. If you encounter a flooded roadway, do not attempt to drive through it. The average automobile can be swept off the road in 12 inches of moving water, and roads covered by water are prone to collapse, officials said. If you come upon a flooded street, take an alternate route.

Also, it is now illegal for drivers to go around a traffic control device that indicates a road closure due to a hazardous condition. The law imposes a fine of $250 to $500 on violators and two points on their driver’s license, and requires they pay restitution for the cost for any fire, police and EMS response.

If you know of a road closure, post it in comments and we'll take it from there.

Terwood Rd is closed at Valley road. I don't know if the whole Terwood Rd is closed or not since I couldn't get past Valley. The lights are out at Welsh Rd and Terwood. Also lights are out at Washington lane & Welsh they blocked off Washington lane both ways so no cross traffic.

Terwood is now open. The lights are all now working except at Terwood & Fetters Mill. I'm not sure about Washington Lane because I didn't go up Welsh today.
