Hatboro, Horsham Churches Mark Solemn Anniversary Sunday

Many local houses of worship will offer remembrances, sermons tailored around the 9/11 attacks, which happened 10 years ago on Sunday.

Many Hatboro and Horsham places of worship will take time Sunday to mark the solemn 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Here’s a look at what’s planned:

  • , 32 N. York Road. The church's 11 a.m. service will include a time to remember 9/11 and features a message from Principal Karí Hill. Following the service, a picnic with games for children and a cake-tasting contest will be held.
  • , 300 S. York Road in Hatboro. The church's 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services will focus on September 11. Special music is planned as well. 
  • , 700 Welsh Road in Horsham. Pastor Lou Prontnicki said the congegation will be "remembering through prayer" during the 10:30 a.m. service.
  • , 151 County Line Road in Hatboro. Normal worship services are planned for 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, but time will be designated to "pray for the country."
  • , 12 Byberry Road in Hatboro. "We will remember September 11 in our prayers," said Rector Robin Martin of the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. church services on Sunday.
  • , 495 Easton Road in Horsham._The 10 a.m. service is the kickoff for the church's "Fuel for Life" sermon series. The series will delve into mistakes married people can avoid to keep their marriage happy and healthy.
  • , 309 W. County Line Road, in Hatboro. The 11 a.m. service will feature the showing of a video related to 9/11 and a special time for prayer and remembrance, according to Pastor Jake Presley. "I am going to preach on a passage about dealing with tragedy," Presley said, adding that Sunday's sermon is part of a series on how people can cope when life gets hard. "We aren't really tieing it into September 11."
  • , 505 N. York Road in Hatboro. During the Sunday school's rally day, which begins at 9 a.m., students will remember those lost on Sept. 11, 2001. Kids will honor those who serve our country.
  • , held at the Blair Mill Inn, 3855 Blair Mill Road in Horsham. The 10:15 a.m. service features guest speaker, , of Hatboro, who will speak on the importance of leadership. "My purpose, in particular, will be to point out some of the obstacles we face in society, in business, in our family, and in ministry which requires tactical and specific leadership," Carter wrote in an e-mail to Patch.
