Books and Beyond

Locals came out for Hatboro Library's May Fair and Book sale Saturday, which featured food, crafts and kids' activities.

Kids bounced and enjoyed face-painting while their parents scoured through crafts and used books at the  

$3,000 to $5,000 is raised from each sale. 

"It depends on how good a day it is," Ehrsam said.

If people milling about under Saturday's blue skies, blossoming cherry blossom trees and beautiful weather were any indication, the library had a phenomenal day.

Besides crafts and an inflatable moon bounce for kids, vendors, like long-time baker Gwen Gutekunst, sold food and sweet treats.

Also on hand Saturday were members of the Gardeners of Crooked Billet, who were selling various plants for the group's own club fundraiser. Member Judy Swanson said the club offers a $500 scholarship each year to a Hatboro-Horsham student interested in the horticulture and landscaping field.

"We'd like them to be in the plant world," Swanson said.
