Another Mosquito Positive for West Nile in Horsham

A mosquito collected in Horsham is one of 35 samples throughout Pennsylvania that tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Despite spraying for mosquitos, at least one mosquito has not only thrived, but tested positive for West Nile Virus in Horsham.

According to the Pennsylvania West Nile Virus Control Program, the infected mosquito was among 35 positive samples collected on Tuesday. Besides positives among mosquitos and birds throughout the state, a human also tested positive for the virus, which can be fatal. 

Several other mosquitos collected in Horsham this season have tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The Department of Environmental Protection, Montgomery County West Nile Virus Control Program staff are responding with additional surveillance and control as needed. It is not clear if the county will do another mosquito spray in Horsham.
