Veteran's Night at Hatboro Troop 3

Veteran's Day is the day we set aside to honor our Veterans.
That's exactly what the Scouts of Hatboro Troop 3, Boy Scouts of America, did on Monday evening.
A Veteran whether on active duty, discharged, retired or reserve is someone who at one point in his or her life wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including his or her life". Eighteen Veterans who are family members of the Hatboro Troop 3 Scouts were honored at a special Veteran's Night held in Fellowship Hall in the Hatboro Baptist Church. The Veterans were presented Certificates from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, recognizing their service. Troop 3's "Wall of Honor" posts each Veteran's picture as well as their military record and medals. There are 48 Veterns who are now on the "Wall"
A very poignant moment in the ceremony was the reading of names of the Veterns who had passed. A bell was rung as each name was read. TAPS was played followed by a very emotional video of Dave Mason's "THANK YOU".
The evening was dedicated to LTC Louis H. Balot III, once a young Scout in Hatboro Troop 3, he served in the Navy for 30 years. He was the guest speaker last year and passed away in February of this year.
Refreshments, including cup cakes donated by ShopRite of Warminster, were served. Each Veteran also received a gift of an American Flag.
