Hatboro-Horsham Theater Department to Perform 'Shrek The Musical'

Performances are at Hatboro-Horsham High School on July 31 and August 2.

What story could bring a cranky ogre, a talking donkey and a cursed princess together with all your fairytale favorites? “Shrek The Musical” will take audiences to a faraway land where traditional fairytales are turned upside down, and the only hope is a not so traditional hero—the ogre, Shrek. Find out if he can save the kingdom when Hatboro-Horsham Theater Department presents this show from July 31 to August 2.

“This story is packed with fun for the entire family,” Director Lisa Stunder said. “Our cast and crew, which ranges from children to seasoned adults, has had a great time putting this production together. We hope the community will enjoy it as much as we have.”

Shrek might be an unusual, and cranky, ogre, but let’s not forget the quirky friends he makes along the way, such as a talking donkey, the feisty (and cursed!) Princess Fiona, and the wooden boy Pinocchio, who all lend a hand when the evil Lord Farquaad threatens all fairytale creatures. This show is fun for the entire family!

“It’s all about rising to the occasion and overcoming your differences,” Stunder said. “These are lessons that pertain to both children and adults. But the show does it in a fun and entertaining way, just like the movies.”

Performances are at Hatboro-Horsham High School on July 31 and August 1 are at 7:30 p.m., while August 2 is a matinee at 2 p.m. Photo opportunities with many of the characters will also be available for audience members after the matinee showing. All tickets are sold at the door and are for general admission seating. Ault tickets are $10, while student and senior tickets are $8.
