Keith Valley Students Share the Holiday Spirit with Nursing Home Residents

Keith Valley Middle School seventh grade students shared some holiday joy with the residents of Masonic Village Nursing Home in Warminster Dec. 17. Each resident at Masonic Village receive a gift stuffed with unique items that were donated by families at the school.

“We wanted to do something special for these residents,” Social Studies teacher Elizabeth Daleandro said. “We made 62 bags, including decorating each gift bag and writing notes for each residents, so they could have a special holiday season.”

Students dressed as Santas and elves to deliver bags, greeting residents with “Merry Christmas,” and “Happy Holidays” as they went along. Residents received the bags with smiles and anticipation to see what was inside. The bags, which were hand-decorated and had hand-made notes included, were filled with magazines, candies, lotions, lip balm, slippers, costume jewelry and other items.

The Seasons Greetings from 7 Grey, meaning one of the seventh grade classes, was the service project for this year. Giving back is an important part of the Keith Valley experience, so Daleandro and the other seventh grade grey team teachers partnered with Masonic Village for the annual service project.

“We’re hoping to make the holiday season a little more cheerful for our community members in Masonic Village through our Seasons Greetings from 7 Grey initiative,” Daleandro said. “The students have been looking forward to brightening the holiday season of many residents with these gift bags.”
