Catherine Jevit Receives Girl Scout Gold Award
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn.
Catherine Jevit, of Horsham, recently completed her Girl Scout Gold Award by creating a nutrition program for pre-school age children. The program was presented at day care centers and pre-school classrooms in the area and featured discussions and activities about the need for a variety of foods in your diet. Catherine has been a Girl Scout since kindergarten.
She is a sophomore at Hatboro-Horsham High School and participates in Ski Club and Adventure Club. She is also a competitive synchronized figure skater and recently returned from the National Synchronized Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, CO. After high school, she plans to pursue a career in the area of exercise science and nutrition.
The Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can earn, combines leadership development, career exploration and community service. It culminates in an 80-hour leadership project that each girl plans and executes according to her own interests and passions. Nationally, only 6 percent of eligible girls earn their Girl Scout Gold Award.
