UPDATE: SEPTA Workers Won’t Strike

The union says its members will keep working even if a new contract isn’t agreed upon.

Representatives of Transport Workers Union Local 234 now say that SEPTA workers won’t strike, even if a new contract isn’t agreed to in time.

The current contract under which employees are working expires at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

Union representatives failed to show up for contract negotiations Friday morning, leading to concerns that workers planned to strike

However, union representatives issued a statement Friday saying that even if an agreement wasn’t reached in time, workers would stay on the job, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

A strike would affect SEPTA bus, subway and trolley service. Regional Rail would not be impacted.
