The national average for self-serve gas has increased for ten straight days to the highest price in more than a month, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The national average this for a gallon is $3.588, up 4.9 cents from last week, but still about 14 cents lower than a year ago. But according to the report, the year over year difference will likely continue to fade due to higher crude oil prices and refinery maintenance that decreases supply. After months of a steady decline, gas prices saw the first uptick last week, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The national average this week for a gallon of gas rose 1.7 cents from last week. Low demand and lower prices for crude oil continue to drive gas prices downward, according to AAA’s fuel report. In Pennsylvania, the average for a gallon of self-serve regular is $3.490 per gallon down 6.2 cents from a week ago. In Montgomery and Bucks counties, the average price for a gallon is $3.480; that’s 47.2 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, which is 4.75 cents from a week ago, 18.3 cents lower than a month ago. The average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Bucks and Montgomery spiked 17.8 cents since last week, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.
