Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort by Horsham-based SofterWare

The staff of SofterWare, Inc., located in Horsham, wanted to help the communities that were still struggling to get back on their feet. We took up a collection for East Rockaway, N.Y., one of the areas hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy.

In less than 24 hours, our staff donated a staggering amount of gently used clothes, blankets, and coats, as well as non-perishable food items and other necessities such as diapers, flashlights, and batteries.

Laura Bigelow, one of the members of our administrative staff, contacted the Volunteer Coordinator of East Rockaway Village and arranged to drive our donations directly to the town that was devastated by the storm. Everyone was very grateful. In fact, we just received a letter from the mayor of East Rockaway.

We lost power at our office for a week. However, the troubles of the folks in East Rockaway made our problems seem so small, so it was a great feeling to help out.
