Suspicious Man Attempted Hatboro Break-In, Police Say

An unknown man fled when a Hatboro homeowner returned home during what police say was an attempted break-in.

An attempted break-in may have been halted when a Shirley Road homeowner returned home to find an unknown man in the yard, Hatboro Police said.

A resident in the first block of the street arrived home Wednesday at 4:54 p.m. to find what police described as a white male in his 50s, with longer dirty blonde hair, wearing a blue jacket, blue work pants and a hat in the yard.

Once seen by the homeowner, police said the man quickly entered a van and departed westbound on Shirley Road.

It was discovered later that a window screen in the rear of the home had sustained a small cut. Entry was not gained to the home and nothing is missing from the property, police said.
