Hatboro-Horsham Schools Closed Wednesday
All but three Hatboro-Horsham schools are without power.
Hatboro-Horsham School District students will have another day off on Wednesday, as the district works to have power restored to all but three schools in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
District Superintendent Curtis Griffin told Patch on Tuesday afternoon that Simmons Elementary School and Hatboro-Horsham High School were the only facilities throughout the district with power as of 12:30 p.m. By 5 p.m., Griffin said Crooked Billet Elementary School had its power restored.
By 6:40 p.m., Griffin notified Patch that schools would remain closed on Wednesday.
"We determined that the conditions would not improve to the level needed to open schools for Wednesday," Griffin said.
Griffin said the district's emergency management team was meeting to assess the situation Tuesday afternoon.
"Key issues will be power and if roads are open," Griffin had said earlier in the day. "We also know that there are several roads closed in the community that create transportation and safety issues."
Aside from power outages, Griffin said the schools are in "good shape" with only "minor issues."
