How to Recycle a TV
Get rid of your unwanted TVs in a way that's safe.
Patch users throughout the region have shown increasing interest in how to recycle or safely dispose of any number of household items. So we've put together a series of resources for you and your neighbors. If we miss any item you want to know how to properly dispose of or recycle, please let us know in the comments.
For those looking to safely get rid of an old television in the Hatboro-Horsham area, there are a number of recycling options.
Bring It In
The following stores offer varying programs and offers to television owners looking to recycle:
- Best Buy: Area Best Buys will accept two electronic items per day, including TVs under 32 inches. Check the following locations for recycling:
Check the Manufacturer
Some manufactures offer take back and recycling programs to allow consumers to return their products safely.
LG, Goldstar and Zenith all offer recycling programs for their televisions. Find out more about the program and how to recycle a TV here.
Sony not only takes back old televisions but may offer a gift card in return, if the item in question has value. Click here to find the nearest Sony take back store and how to take advantage of their free mailback program.
Let the County Handle It

I appreciate the intent of this article....but not sure if it helps me get rid of my 32 inch Sony CRT .
I checked the references in the article (Sony webpage, etc.) and there does not seem to be any guidance or help for 32+ inch TVs. If anyone knows how I could get rid of this tv without it going to some landfill, please post your comment. It still works, so would be more than happy to donate it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I called Impact and they take tvs that are less then 10 years old. Unfortunately, my tv was made in 1997. I also talked to 2-Crew and they do not recycle CRT type tvs (only flat screens). They recommended that I seek out a tv repair company, as they may take it. I try that, also thinking I should try Freecycle or Craigslist.
