H-H School Board to Say 'No' to Airport

School board approved a motion to consider a resolution at its May 2 meeting opposing any future runway use at air base.

The Hatboro-Horsham School Board is looking to put the notion of strength in numbers into practice as it considers approving a resolution opposing an airport at the . 

The board approved a motion during its meeting Monday and plans to vote on the resolution during its May 2 meeting. 

If the resolution is approved, the school board will join  officials in making its no airport stance official.

The district submitted one of to acquire and redevelop a portion of the 892 acres available. The district requested to build a new school within the next 30 years. 

and each submitted proposals for the runway. Bucks County Airport Authority operates the Doylestown and Quakertown airports. Montgomery County officials have said they are not interested in operating an airport, but they would like the possibility to be considered in the redevelopment process.

A decision on how the military property will be used is months away. The Horsham Land Reuse Authority is still collecting and analyzing various information, including environmental conditions and existing infrastructure at the base.

The HLRA's next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Horsham Township community center.
