Golf Club to Housing in 3 Phases

The developer of the existing Horsham Valley Golf Club is proposing to cut down close to 1,000 trees to make way for 94 single family homes.

Backers of a plan to create a new housing development where the currently stands unveiled how the work will progress during the Horsham Township Council meeting.

While the council already , golf course counsel Richard McBride this week presented particulars about the project's phasing plan.

The development, spearheaded by Cutler Group, will be divided into three phases, the first of which will begin closest to Babylon Road and then move backward. The finished product will include 94 units on a 70-acre plot.

The initial phase will encompass the area that would and a retention base.

McBride said tree removal will be heavily "front-ended," with 646 trees being taken out in the first phase, followed by 179 and 135 in the second and third phases, respectively.

The trees will be planted elsewhere in the area that "will work to the township's advantage," McBride said.

Council will consider the phasing plan at its April 11 meeting. Pending approval, McBride joked that the project will head forward April 12.
