Fire Tears Through Easton Road Garage

No one was injured in a fire that badly damaged a garage behind a business in Horsham Tuesday night, officials said.

A fire started in a SUV just before 10 p.m. Tuesday and spread to the garage it was housed in behind Ben-Tor Auto Sales at 732 Easton Road in Horsham.

The blaze destroyed the gray SUV and left the three-car garage with heavy damage, according to Horsham Fire Chief Tim Flanagan.

"I wouldn't say [the garage] was totally destroyed, but it will need a lot of repairs," said the chief.

The SUV was the only vehicle inside the garage at the time of the fire, Flanagan said.

Flanagan reported crews were dispatched at 9:43 p.m. for reports of an unknown type fire and when they arrived flames were spotted and firefighters entered the garage forcibly.

The one alarm fire was placed under control just minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene, Flanagan told Patch.

No one was injured in the fire, which remains under investigation by the Horsham Township Fire Marshal George Fida.

A portion of Easton Road was blocked off for less than an hour as crews fought the blaze.

Members of the Willow Grove Fire Company, Hatboro's Enterprise Fire Company, and the Warminster Fire Department assisted Horsham firefighters with the fire.
