Fire Damages Several Hatboro Apartments
A fire caused heavy damage to several apartment units in Hatboro Monday morning.
Fire departments from around the area responded to an apartment fire shortly after around 8 a.m. at the the Stonybrook complex off York Road in Hatboro Monday.
No one was injured during the blaze, which was put under control in about 20 minutes, Enterprise Fire Company Chief Keith Gordon said.
When fire crews first arrived to the building they spotted heavy smoke and fire coming from the second floor of the building, Gordon said. Crews from several area companies quickly went into service to contain the flames.
The resident of the most heavily damaged apartment was not home at the time of the fire, the chief told Patch.
After the fire had been knocked down, authorities entered the building and began to extinguish "hot spots" which remained.
Gordon said two second-floor units were heavily damaged and the aparments below sustained water damage.
Traffic along York Road was impacted for more than an hour as fire apparatus was staged on the thoroughfare.
The Hatboro fire marshal continues to investigate the orgin of the fire.
Firefighters from Bryn Athyn, Horsham, Huntingdon Valley, Ivyland, Upper Southampton, Warminster and Willow Grove assisted Hatboro crews. The Second Alarmers Rescue Squad was also on scene.
