Comedy + Laughs = Horsham Park Fundraiser
The Horsham Rotary Club is holding a benefit on Jan. 28 in Doylestown.
Raising money for new playground equipment at Kohler Park is a laughing matter – really.
The Horsham Rotary Club, in its goal of generating $75,000 to cover a new pavilion and swings and things as part of the $300,000 overarching park upgrade project, has scheduled a Jan. 28 fundraiser at the Comedy Cabaret in Doylestown.
“The comedy club event is basically just a fun social event and we’ll earn some money from it,” Horsham Rotary Club President Rick Kidron said, adding that the club earns $10 per each ticket sold. “We’re hoping to sell 200 tickets.”
With an annual bike-a-thon on April 30, a yearly golf outing in September and an Italian night in November, the club is no stranger to fundraising. However, Kidron said the comedy cooperative is something new the group is trying to step up the park fundraising efforts.
To date, Kidron said the Rotary Club has about $23,000 raised. And, Kidron, whose term as president is up on June 30, said he would make sure that goal is reached during his tenure.
“We will write the check for the township before the end of June,” Kidron said.
Horsham Township Manager Bill Walker said previously that the playground equipment would be installed by late summer and additional renovations are expected to conclude in 2013.
